This image was taken in my backyard at a side angle. The fence and the stone wall are both leading lines that add depth to the image. The torches also create implied lines in the image. There is a pattern of plant, grass, torch over and over. This was taken with a fast shutter speed as everything is in focus. The back of the picture is a little blurry, though. The white fence balances out the all of the gray and darker colors in the image. I think this image has an interesting point of view and sets a calm mood for the viewer.
This image was taken from a plant that was brought inside because it was getting cold outside. The image has nice texture at the top orange part of the flower making it look really fuzzy. The light was shining through the window right onto the center of the flower and created the dark background. To me, the focal point of this image is the dark pink part in the center of the flower. This image was taken with a fast shutter speed and has a large depth of field, so everything is in focus. The sun shining on the flower gives it a warm and comfy feeling.
This image was taken after a rainstorm. The flower is covered in raindrops giving it a bubbly texture. It is symmetrical and the focal point is the orange point in the middle that leads the viewer's eyes out towards the petals. I cropped the top of the original image so that it fills up the entire frame. The corners show the green leaves behind the flower, contrasting all the pink from the flower. Opposite from the image above, the rain gives this image a cold feeling.
This image was taken at La Salette on Thanksgiving. I used this picture for the shadow and reflection assignment. This picture is symmetrical if cut horizontally since the lights were completely reflected into the pond. Since the distance of the picture was far back it kind of looks like a panorama to me. It follows the rule of thirds and the colors balance each other. The focal point of this picture to me it the blue line inthe center of the picture which is where the pond starts. This picture sets a happy mood and puts the viewer into the holiday spirit.
This image was taken in my parent's bedroom and it is of the footboard of their bed. This picture was used for the depth of field assignment as it shows foreground, middleground, and background. The foreground of the picture is clearer and more focused than the middleground and background. It is also interesting that in the middleground the sunlight is shining strongly onto the floor. The colors in the picture all seem to balance each other. I think this picture is interesting and I choose it because I feel like one of its biggest strengths was leading the viewers eyes through it because of the sense of depth. The focal point for me in this picture is the footboard in the foreground. It has a swirl that immediately grabs my attention when I look at it.
This image was from the painting with light assignment. Olivia had wrapped a set of lights around her head and another set around her waist. This was taken with a slow shutter speed capturing the light slowly. The color is very vivid and stands out. The continuous swirls and loops of the lights leads the viewer's eyes back and forth at the top of the picture as well as at the bottom of the picture. The black space between the loops and all the space that doesnt have light is negative space, whereas the lights create positive space. I chose this picture and think it is interesting because you can't even tell someone was actually in the middle of the picture.
